Leaf Border for Bella Fresca Handmade Soaps

about bella fresca

Photo of Susan Foti, Bella Fresca Bella Fresca was founded by Susan Foti in 2009. So, how did the company get started?

Susan has a deep background in art and design. She's spent over 28 years working as an award-winning graphic designer. Over the years, she has enjoyed making a variety of handmade gifts for her family and friends and discovered soapmaking in 2006. She found that she really savored the whole process, from mixing the colors, natural additives and oils, to blending scents and designing gorgeous packaging.

Having developed a passionate interest in soapmaking, Susan began to study intensely about the therapeutic properties of a vast range of oils, butters, botanicals, essential oils and other beneficial ingredients that could be incorporated into the products. With a keen interest in premium quality skin care and to complement her line of soaps, she started taking classes in how to make natural skin care products. After a mass of experimenting and testing, Bella Fresca was born.

Where did the name Bella Fresca come from? As an art student, Susan studied quite a bit of art history and found that she loved Italian art. That was the beginning of her love for all things Italian, from the exquisite sculpture, painting and architecture to modern day product design, the stunning landscapes and scenery of the country and the fabulous Italian cuisine. Viewing a Michelangelo sculpture in person is awe inspiring, and who can resist a wonderful cappuccino or cup of gelato? Her beloved late husband was Italian too. Bella Fresca means beautifully fresh in Italian and everything she makes fits that description.

This is where Susan gets inspiration to make fabulous natural soaps and body products for you. Everything is handmade in small batches to ensure quality, freshness and attention to detail. A range of the finest sustainably-sourced natural additives, botanicals, exotic oils and butters, aromatic essential oils and phthalate-free fragrances are used.

Susan continues to create new soaps, potions and products that are periodically added to the line. So check back from time to time to see what’s new!
